HA NOI (VNS)– The 18th National Film Festival will be held in the northern province Quang Ninh's Ha Long City from October 11-15.
The best motion pictures, documentaries and animated cartoons will vie for awards at the event held every three years.
The awards, one Golden Lotus, two Silver Lotus and two Jury Prizes, will be presented to each category.
Personal award winners will be given to the best director, the best actor and actress, the best supporting actor and actress, the best scriptwriter, the best cameraman, the best production design; the best music score and the best sound editing.
For the first time, there will be an audience choice award for the most popular film.
The festival is among cultural events featuring the 60th anniversary of the Viet Nam Cinema Industry.
The 17th film festival was held in 2011 in the central province of Phu Yen. The top Golden Lotus award for the best motion pictures was not awarded because no film was considered up to standard. – VNS
