Football matches delayed for Confederation Cup

Two football matches in the 13th and last round of V-League first half of the season have been delayed.

According to the original schedule, the matches between Ha Noi T&T and Navibank Sai Gon and Sai Gon FC and Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) would have taken place yesterday.

However, SLNA and Navibank asked the VFF to delay the matches because they both have to play games at the Asian Football Confederation Cup tomorrow.

The VFF agreed and moved the two matches to April 19.

Ha Noi coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh was forced to make changes, and striker Ezeocha Ambrose was given a free rein while Xuan Luan replaced the tired Viet Anh to strengthen the defence.

The visitors made their breakthrough in the 75th minute when midfielder Pham Thanh Luong sent a stunning 25m shot past keeper Manh Dung.

Just four minutes later, Ambrose levelled for Ha Noi with a close-range shot, and three-time Golden Ball winner Le Cong Vinh completed the come-back with an injury-time winner.

SHB Da Nang replaced T&T Ha Noi at the top of the table after their game with Navibank Sai Gon was postponed until April 19 with a 2-1 victory over Hai Phong.

Hai Phong made a fast start to the game with a goal in the ninth minute, giving fans hope that their run of bad form was over.

However, Gaston Merlo quashed those hopes with a strong header just three minutes later.

Da Nang were awarded a penalty at the end of the first half that Thanh Hung duly converted, all but ending Hai Phong's chances of moving off the bottom of the table.

In other games yesterday, Becamex Binh Duong were defeated 0-2 by Khatoco Khanh Hoa; Hoang Anh Gia Lai beat Thanh Hoa 2-0 and Dong Thap lost 1-3 to Kienlongbank Kien Giang. — VNS
