Ha Noi stay on top in national games

HA NOI (VNS) — Ha Noi retained the top position yesterday in the ongoing National Sports Games in the northern province of Nam Dinh.

The team won 116 golds, 92 silvers and 95 bronzes in the medal tally, followed by HCM City with 75 golds, 64 silvers and 61 bronzes and the Military team with 40 golds, 35 silvers and 69 bronzes.

Hanoian athletes Nguyen Van Hung and Nguyen Ngoc Quang earned two more gold medals for their team in the men's triple jump and men's 100m hurdle. The team also won three golds in the Wushu event and three golds in archery.

In the women's 400m final, national member Nguyen Thi Huyen of Nam Dinh won the gold medal after defeating Thanh Hoa's Quach Thi Lan.

Huyen finished first with a time of 52.76secs, while Lan came in second with a time of 52.80secs.

Both Huyen and Lan underwent training in the United States early this year.

In the men's 400m, Lan's brother Quach Cong Lich continued to compete successfully and won his second gold medal with a time of 47.67secs. He earned his first gold medal in the men's 400m hurdle.

In the women's 100m hurdle, Tran Thi Yen Hoa of Hue took the lead with a time of 13.61secs. — VNS
