Ha Noi to host classical music concert

HA NOI — The Verano – Ha Noi quartet will perform at a debut classical music concert in Ha Noi on Saturday.

The quartet comprises violinists Ngo Hoang Linh and Nguyen Thu Binh, violist Nguyen Thu Nga and cellist Nguyen Trung Dung.

The artists will perform Mozart's Quartet No17 and Dvorak's string quartet American during the one-hour concert under art director and violinist Ngo Hoang Linh.

Violinists Hoang Linh and Thu Binh formed the quartet and have been performing together since 2007.

Linh was born in 1959 to a family of musicians. He started learning to play the violin at the age of six. He has taught at the Viet Nam National Academy of Music and has performed nationwide and abroad with the Viet Nam National Symphony of Orchestra (VNSO) and the Viet Nam National Opera and Ballet.

The other three members of the quartet are also veteran musicians. Thu Nga is a master violist at the VNSO, while cellist Trung Dung has performed in several countries, such as the United States, Japan, China and Italy.

Violinist Nguyen Thu Binh has performed with the Asia Youth Orchestra, the Asean Symphony Orchestra and the Bangkok String Orchestra.

The Verano – Ha Noi quartet has been invited to perform in Iran from September 1 to 6 on the occasion of the Viet Nam National Day, falling on September 2.

"We will choose a Vietnamese piece and perform two pieces of Mozart and Dvorak at the concert in Iran," Linh said.— VNS
