English Dylan Kerr loses his job in Viet Nam

HA NOI (VNS) — V-League's Hai Phong will not renew its contract with English coach Dylan Kerr for the upcoming season.

Kerr had taken charge as the manager of the side in January after working for nearly two years as a physical trainer.

Kerr and his team were placed 10th out of 12 teams at the V-League, which was not a result that their owners had expected. But the team won the National Cup trophy two weeks ago.

Kerr said he was happy to work in Viet Nam and expected to return in the future.

With his departure, there are no foreigners working in V-League now.

Coach Vu Quang Bao also bid farewell to Quang Nam who are aiming to stay with the national premier league in its first season.

Bao said he was looking for better career opportunities after working for two years with Quang Nam. He had successfully guided the team to the No 8 position. Bao also led the team to the V-League for the first time in 2013.

Before his departure, Bao helped bring national U23 striker Mac Hong Quan to the Tam Ky field for the next season. — VNS
