HCM CITY (VNS) — HCM City's eighth Book Fair runs from March 24 to 30 at Le Van Tam Park in District 1. The theme of this year's fair is Books – Culture and Development and is expected to attract around 160 local and foreign publishers, and over 500 bookstalls showcasing over 200,000 titles.

The event will host a range of activities, such as presentations by the authors, Q&As between writers and readers, and reader competitions. This year there will be special exhibitions on HCM City, President Ho Chi Minh, the People's Army of Viet Nam, the Dien Bien Phu Victory, and General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Books will be offered at a 10-20 per cent discount during the event, and rise to 50 per cent over the last three days, to encourage reading among visitors.

The HCM City Book Fair is held every two years, as a celebration of Viet Nam's literary culture. It is held by Saigon Cultural Products Corporation, the HCM City Books Distributors Joint-stock Company (FAHASA), HCM City General Publishing House, Culture and Art Publishing House and Tre Publishing House. — VNS
