HÀ NỘI — The 3rd South Korea - Việt Nam Cultural Festival will be held in HCM City this weekend.

The two-day festival aims to promote Korean culture including the traditional attire, or hanbok and other product projects led by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

A series of fashion shows, art performances and culinary experiences, with participation of Vietnamese and Korean artists, will take place on Lê Lợi Road in District 1.

The festival is held by Korean Embassy and Korean Cultural Centre in coordination with Korean agencies.

Director of the centre Choi Seung-jin said: "The centre in Việt Nam will continue to organise different events in other localities bringing the people of the two countries closer through cultural activities."

The highlight of the festival will be that fashion show showing hanbok and áo dài designs by Korean Kim Young-jin, Song Hyemi and Vietnamese designer Thạch Linh.

Rooted in traditional hanbok, Kim creates clothing that captures Korean lines and sentiments, while also being both global and modern.

She is also known for designing hanboks for the K-drama Mr. Sunshine (2018), the film Love, Lies (2016), and the play Hamlet (2016), as well as for the hanboks featured in the Visit Korean Heritage campaign promo video, which was displayed in a New York’s Times Square billboard in 2021.

Her work has also been featured in several hanbok exhibitions and fashion shows internationally, including at the V&A Museum in London and at Paris Fashion Week.

There will also be performances by Korean and Vietnamese singers, including boy band Pickus's member Ricky, Phương Ly and dancers.

Visitors to the festival will have the chance to participate in several interesting Korean cultural programmes and activities, including sampling delicious Korean street food.

The festival was held for the first time in 2022.  VNS
