HCM City orchestra to play Walt Disney tracks


The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will perform 10 original soundtracks from the most famous Walt Disney movies under the baton of Dutch maestro Jan Stulen tomorrow.

HCM CITY (VNS)— The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will perform 10 original soundtracks from the most famous Walt Disney movies under the baton of Dutch maestro Jan Stulen tomorrow.

The Magical Music of Disney by the HBSO's symphony orchestra will start with an overture featuring a dozen themes and songs from films like Snow White, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella.

It will be followed by an orchestra suite of songs from The Little Mermaid and a suite from Pocahontas by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.

There will be a medley from the Sherman Brothers' Mary Poppins and a suite from Menken and Ashman's Beauty and the Beast ending the first half of the concert.

The second act opens with Christophe Beck's Frozen Suite and will be followed by Menken, Ashman and Tim Rice's Disney's Aladdin Orchestra Suite and Matthew Wilder, Jerry Goldsmith & David Zippel's Mulan Suite.

The highlight of the evening will be a suite from Pirates of the Caribbean by Hans Zimmer.

Elton John and Rice's The Lion King will be the final suite of the concert.

The concert will be held at the HCM City Opera House, Lam Son Square, District 1, from 8pm.

Tickets costing VND800,000, 650,000, 550,000 and 400,000, and 150,000 for students, are available at the venue. — VNS
