HCM CITY (VNS) — Nguyen Diep Phuong Tram set two records and won gold medals as HCM City dominated at the National Junior Swimming Championship with 25 golds, 22 silvers and 24 bronzes.
Binh Phuoc bagged six golds, while Quang Binh won five golds, six silvers and four bronzes.
Tram, 13, set up a new record in the girl's 50m butterfly event with a time of 28.59sec, surpassing by 2.10sec of the old record (30.49sec).
She then clocked the 200m backstroke event in 2min 28.31sec (the old record was 2:33.60).
HCM City's Tran Duy Khoi and Nguyen Ngoc Trien from Hai Phong both broke the record in the boy's 200m backstroke event.
Khoi, however, won a gold and set a new record with a time of 2: 07.28. The old record was 2:09.93 set by Do Huy Long from Ha Noi in 2005.
Tran Thi Hong Cam of Long An surpassed her own record in the girl's 200m freestyle with a time of 2:10.56. Her old record was 2min 13.63sec.
This is her second record and gold medal at the championship. — VNS
