HCM CITY — Vietnamese and foreign tourists will have a chance to visit the headquarters of the People's Committee and People’s Council of HCM City, a national-level architectural and artistic monument, on the upcoming national holidays.

Accordingly, people are offered to visit the municipal People's Committee and People’s Council headquarters – one of the city's most well-known architectural heritages – on April 29 and 30 for free of charge, the municipal Department of Tourism announced on April 24.

This move is part of the celebratory activities for the national holidays of Hùng Kings Commemoration Day (April 29 – the 10th day of the third lunar month), National Reunification (April 30) and May Day (May 1).

It is also aimed at introducing the city's history of formation and development, contributing to building the image of a friendly and open city administration.

Domestic and foreign tourists in groups who have pre-registered with the municipal Department of Tourism, members of the association of veterans, children, outstanding youth union members, and reporters of news agencies with invitations are eligible for the sightseeing trip in the headquarters at 86 Lê Thánh Tôn Street, Bến Nghé Ward, District 1 from 8 am to 5 pm on April 29 and 30.

These above-mentioned people are allowed to visit a part of the headquarters including the main lobby on the ground floor, main stairs, international reception rooms, meeting rooms, and balconies in 60 minutes. They are required to ensure the security, safety, and integrity of the monument as well as strictly comply with regulations on the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The old building of the municipal People's Committee and People’s Council was built from 1898 to 1909. It was recognised as a national-level architectural and artistic monument in 2020. — VNS
