HCM City showcases boxing


The second Saigon Sports Club (SSC) Boxing Championships will sound the first round bell this Sunday at the HCM City's District 7 Gymnasium.

HCM CITY (VNS) — The second Saigon Sports Club (SSC) Boxing Championships will sound the first round bell this Sunday at the HCM City's District 7 Gymnasium.

Leading boxers from Viet Nam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Nepal will compete.

Truong Dinh Hoang, who won gold in the men's 75kg category at the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore in June; Nguyen Van Hai, SEA Games silver medalist; and national champions Tran Van Thao and Phan Van Hien together make a strong showing for Viet Nam.

The long-awaited match will be the match between Hoang and Thailand's Jao Wei Ha who won 130 out of 145 matches which he took part.

The event is expected to attract around 2,000 spectators, double that of the audience at the SSC's first event held in April.

Free tickets to SSC championship are available at Saigon Sports Club, 514B Huynh Tan Phat Street in HCM City's District 7. — VNS
