HCM CITY (VNS) — Six well-known HCM City stage actors will compete in the artists-only version of Vinh Long Television's popular reality show Cuoi Xuyen Viet (TransViet Laugh).

They are Thanh Van and Huynh Lap of Idecaf Theatre, TV comic actress Kieu Linh, comic actor Don Nguyen whose rose to fame by mimicking famous stars, La Thanh of The Gioi Tre Theatre, and Nam Thu of Nu Cuoi Moi Theatre.

Cuoi Xuyen Viet, broadcast earlier this year, had the highest ratings of any Vinh Long Television programme, Chau Ngoc An, its deputy director, said.

The channel expects the artists' version to also be very successful, he added.

Unlike the regular version, the show will feature 12 episodes with different themes like literature characters, opera, hot news, challenges, horror, mask, aspirations, and others.

From the sixth episode onwards, one contestant will be eliminated each time.

The jury will include meritorious artist and director Duc Hai, comedians Viet Huong and Tran Thanh, and overseas Vietnamese emcee Ky Duyen.

Each episode will also have a famous theatre artist as a guest judge.

Cash prizes worth VND1 billion (US$44,750) are on offer, with the winner getting VND200 million and the runner-up, VND100 million.

There will also be four consolation prizes of VND50 million each.

Organised together with HCM City-based media company KMedia, Cuoi Xuyen Viet will air at 9pm every Thursday from November 5 on Vinh Long TV channel 1. — VNS
