HCM CITY (VNS) — The 2015 HCM City International Sculpture Camp will be organised in November to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the city People's Committee have announced.
The camp is aimed at creating an outdoor space for sculpture works reflecting the city's doi moi (renewal) and integration and its dynamic, creative and sentimental people, they said.
The camp is also expected to raise public consciousness about the city's beauty and attract Vietnamese and foreign visitors to it.
Under the theme HCM City – 40 Years of Construction, Development and Integration, international sculptors will create images of Viet Nam, especially the southern hub, to make them better known around the world.
City authorities are encouraging sculptors from ASEAN member countries and from cities that have established friendship ties with HCM City to take part in the event.
The event will open on November 15 at the Park for Ethnic Cultures in District 9. . — VNS
