DA NANG (VNS) — Striker Le Quang Hien scored a hat trick and Nguyen Quoc Anh added one more goal to help HCM City's Phu Nhuan district crush Thai Binh.
Phu Nhuan district won 4 – 0 in the final of the National U-10 Football Championship, Viettel Cup, at the central city's Military Zone 5 Sport Centre this morning.
Hien won the top scorer award with 23 goals and also the best player award.
"It is a great honour to win the championship and the goal poacher award today. We had to overcome a 10-day competition in hot weather, but we were paid off for working hard this week," Hien said after the final.
"Our rivals also gave their best performance today, but we showed a better team-work tactical style."
The winners walked away with a VND30 million (US$1,400) cash prize.
Thai Binh came in second with VND20 million ($952) cash prize, while Dong Nai and Thanh Hoa Province's Sam Son drew for the third prize with VND10 million ($476) each.
The tournament, which was the third edition, drew 36 teams from across the country competing in the five-a-side futsal (indoor) football format. — VNS
