DA NANG (VNS) — The Viet Nam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) recognised the Tetrameles nudiflora-Bodhi and Giant Crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia speciosa) trees in Dak Lak Province as Heritage Trees.
They are the first official Heritage Trees in the Central Highlands region.
The trees, which started growing in Dak Lak's Kroa B village, Cuor Dang commune 200 years ago, are 30m tall and 3.5m in diameter. The heritage recognition aims to raise awareness about the value of protecting nature in the local community.
According to VACNE, 25 species of trees have been recognised as Viet Nam Heritage Trees in the Red River Delta. — VNS
