Viet Nam's top player Nguyen Tien Minh has moved up one place to reach 13th position in the world, according to the World Badminton Federation's latest rankings.
Minh's rise is thanks to his August success at the Yonex Sunrise Viet Nam Open in HCM City where he emerged as champion.
At present, he is competing at a national badminton tournament in Thanh Hoa Province. In October he will participate in the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open, where he is seeded No 2.
Beside Minh, some other well-known players have also climbed the rankings. Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia takes over the first position from Lin Dan of China. Japan's Sho Sasaki and South Korea's Lee Hyun-il have both moved upwards and are now placed sixth and seventh, respectively.-VNS
