THANH HOA (VNS)— Go Nguc (Prison Mound), a part of the Ho Dynasty Citadel, has been excavated for archaeological research, according to the Ho Dynasty Citadel Preservation Centre.

The excavated area of 1,288sq.m is in Vinh Loc District, in the northern province of Thanh Hoa.

Researchers found a brick and tile yard, a stone drainage system and thousands of artifacts. They believe the area developed in the 14th and 15th centuries as a royal prison. However, in the 15th and 16th centuries, the area may be used as a military post. — VNS
