HCM CITY — Thousands of foreign and Vietnamese visitors flocked to take part in cultural, sports and tourism activities at the 10th Hoi An – Japan Festival that ended in the heritage city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam on Saturday.

This year's three-day festival included dozens of art performances by Vietnamese and Japanese artists, including drum performances by the Osuwa Daiko Troup from Japan, a sword-dance performance by Kima Troup, and a Vietnamese traditional dance Bon Mua (Four Seasons) by local artists.

Shows by well-known Japanese performers DJ Samurai, the Gypsy Queen band, and singer Mika Kabayashi were also included.

Photo exhibitions, folk games, screenings of Oscar-winning Japanese animated films, offerings of Japanese and local cuisine, and a craft fair of pottery products and lanterns also took place.

The annual festival, part of this year's Heritage Tourism 2012 campaign, has been organised for the last 10 years by the province in co-operation with the Japanese embassy in Ha Noi and the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Viet Nam. — VNS
