The Hung King Temple Festival, to be held from April 5-9, is expected to welcome 5 million foreign and domestic tourists this year.
The festival will be held in the northern province of Phu Tho, with participation of Bac Ninh, Quang Binh, Vinh Long and Long An.
Along with events honouring and paying tribute to the contributions of the Hung Kings, the founders of the nation, many other cultural programmes and exhibitions will be organised during the five day festival.
Many contests, including the cooking of chung cakes, will be held.
Organised annually to honour Hung Kings, the main day of the festival is March 10 in the lunar calendar. Since 2007, this has been a public holiday in Viet Nam. — VNS
