Sprint queen Vu Thi Huong marked her injury comeback by winning her third gold medal at the National Athletics Championships which closed in Ha Noi on Tuesday.
Huong of An Giang Province finished first in the women's 200m event in a time of 23.32sec, ahead of Nguyen Thi Thuy from Ha Noi and Nguyen Thi Huyen of Nam Dinh Province.
Huong suffered an injury that prevented her from defending her titles at the SEA Games last year in Indonesia.
Her time at the national tournament was faster than Chisato Fukushima of Japan who won the 2010 Asian Games gold, and only two per cent slower than the Olympic B standard.
Huong's two previous golds were in the 100m and 4x200m events.
The HCM City team won their first gold in the women's triple jump with a leap of 13.09m by Tran Hue Hoa.
Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc of Can Tho City won the women's heptathlon, and Lang Son Province's Nguyen Thi Thao triumphed in the women's 1,500m, while the men's title went to Duong Van Thai of Nam Dinh.
The Army team did not add any golds on the last day of the tournament, but eight was enough for them to top the overall medal tally.
Host Ha Noi were second with six golds and Nam Dinh finished third with four.-VNS
