HUE — An international percussion festival to be held in Hue City will gather instruments from different regions of the world and honour the "magnanimous sound of Vietnamese drums," says organiser and theatre director Le Quy Duong.
The festival, the first of its kind in the area, will be held from April 10-14 as part of the 2012 Hue Festival.
As part of the festival, entitled Resounding Viet Nam's Spirit, organisers expect to donate 100 drums to 50 schools in each of Thua Thien Hue and Ben Tre provinces.
Hue Festival 2012 has the theme Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development – Rendezvous of Historic Cities. It will take place from April 7-15. As many as 23 art troupes will attend the festival, coming from France, Denmark, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel, India, Mexico, the US, the UK, the Philippines, Russia,and South Africa. — VNS
