HÀ NỘI — Award-winning director Shakked Auerbach will show her documentary Strange Birds in Hà Nội in April 17, followed by question and answer session with the audience.
The 65-minute documentary is an intimate film that Auerbach created about her own family. It reveals an unspoken story about special parenting and the children who grow up in its shadow, portraying a girl and her brother, who is on the autism spectrum.
It is the first long form documentary by Auerbach and it won her the Best Director award at the Jerusalem Film Festival 2024.
Auerbach is investigative journalist, producer and documentary filmmaker. She has been working as a local creative producer for international news networks in both news coverage and documentary productions and worked with The New York Times, The Washington Post, the BBC, Süddeutsche Zeitung, CTV, NHK and more.
Over the years, she has also published investigative reports and feature articles for a wide variety of media outlets in Israel and around the world, including Haaretz, Kan 11, Taz and the Herald Sun, while more recently conducting research for documentary projects.
Global Spyware Scandal: Exposing Pegasus, on which she was local producer, won Outstanding Investigative Documentary at the 45th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards 2023.
