Japan won the International Women's Volleyball Tournament-VTV Eximbank Cup after defeating North Korea 3-0 in the final in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on Saturday.
In the play-off match for third place, South Korea beat Viet Nam 3-2.
The champions took home US$8,000 while the second and third place teams received $5,000 and $3,000, respectively.
The event attracted eight teams who were divided into groups A and B. They competed in a round-robin format to decide the top two teams from each group for the semi-finals.
The competition was launched in 2004 and won by Viet Nam in 2007, 2009 and 2010. — VNS
