Japanese films to hit screens


The best works of the Japanese movie industry will be screened during the annual Japan Film Festival to be held in HCM City, Ha Noi, and Da Nang this month.

HCM CITY (VNS) — The best works of the Japanese movie industry will be screened during the annual Japan Film Festival to be held in HCM City, Ha Noi, and Da Nang this month.

The festival themed "The Colours of Loves" includes six films portraying various shapes of love among lovers, families and friends, released between 2009 and 2014.

The event will open with director Takehiko Shinjo's Beyond the Memories, which is about the love of two people facing pain after losing their best friends in accidents.

The festival also features Jinx! by director Naoto Kumazawa and Be Sure to Share by Sion Sono, It All Began When We Met by Katsuhide Motoki, My Pretend Girlfriend by Yakumo Saiji, and Life Back Then by Takahisa Zeze.

All films will be shown with Vietnamese and English subtitles.

The festival, organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Viet Nam, will run from October 9-17 at Dong Da Cinema, 890 Tran Hung Dao Street, in District 5.

Free tickets are available at the venue's box office.

The film programme will also take place in Da Nang from October 23-25 and Ha Noi from October 6-14.
