HCM CITY (VNS) — Well-known French singer Patricia Kaas will perform in Viet Nam for the second time tomorrow at a charity concert in HCM City to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Viet Nam.

Patricia first performed in Viet Nam in 1994 at concerts in Ha Noi and HCM City during her international tour "Tour de Charme".

"This is a very special show as Viet Nam was originally not on her tour. Patricia changed her mind and agreed to come back to the country where she sang 20 years ago," said Patrick Desir, the founder of Poussieres de Vie.

The show commemorates 50 years of popularity of iconic songs by the late French chanteuse Edith Piaf.

Prior to her arrival in Viet Nam for five days, Kass will be performing in Shanghai and Tokyo.

An inheritor of Piaf's style, Kaas will sing 20 songs popularised by the famed singer. She will also perform her own songs, and appear with her own band.

Some of Piaf's songs that Kaas will perform include La Vie en Rose (Life in Pink), L'Hymne a l'Amour (Hymn to Love), Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien (No, I Regret Nothing), La Belle Histoire d'Amour (Beautiful Love Story) and Avec ce Soleil (With this Sun).

Kass participated in a gala dinner last night at the Sofitel Saigon Plaza Hotel in District 1 where participants will enjoy French food and music.

The singer donated clothing she wore at the Cannes Festival, as well as another item, to an auction at the gala dinner to raise funds for Poussieres de Vie.

The "Kass Chante Piaf" (Kaas Sings Piaf) concert at Ben Thanh Theatre in District 1 is organised by HCM City-based NGO Poussieres de Vie (Dust of Life) with the support of the French Consulate General in HCM City and Truong Hai Auto Corporation.

All proceeds from the event will be used by Poussieres de Vie for projects that help disadvantaged children in Viet Nam. — VNS
