KHÁNH HOÀ — The coastal province of Khánh Hoà has begun a project to develop its night-time economy by 2030 to lure tourists and increase their length of stay and spending.

The project, which is one of the province’s important strategies to boost its tourism and economy, focuses on cultural services, entertainment activities, food and beverage services, shopping, city tours and production activities.

The province plans to upgrade and develop current facilities for night-time economy to serve several activities such as night markets, and music and street art shows.

The night-time activities will be held along Nha Trang Beach in Nha Trang City, Bãi Dài Cam Ranh Beach in Cam Lâm District, and Dốc Lết Beach in Ninh Hòa Town.

Local authorities are in charge of managing food safety and hygiene, service quality, environmental sanitation, security and order and noise pollution at these areas.

Lê Hữu Hoàng, permanent vice chairman of the province’s People’s Committee, said the night-time activities would take place at specific times at tourism sites crowded with tourists.

In addition, Khánh Hoà would build night tours to cultural and historical sites and popular tourism areas, along with boat tours.

The province also planned to call for investment in projects in night-time economy development, including a large-scale night entertainment complex far away from residential areas.

Khánh Hòa is one of the most-visited destinations in Việt Nam, attracting tourists with beaches and many entertainment activities such as the 2023 Nha Trang – Khánh Hoà Sea Festival in June.

The province welcomed more than 2.78 million visitors in the first six months of 2023, earning revenue of VNĐ12.6 trillion (US$532 million).

The province expects the development of the night-time economy will help attract 8.8 million visitors, including 4.5 million foreigners by 2025, and 13.8 million tourists with 7 million international tourists by 2030. — VNS
