HCM CITY (VNS) — Tran Duy Khoi broke two national records at the National Youth Swimming Championships in HCM City yesterday.
Khoi set a new national record in the boys' U18's 100m backstroke category with a time of 56.61sec, beating the old record of 57.92.
The HCM City-born swimmer also took the lead in the 200m medley, with a time of 2:04.73, defeating the old record of 2:06.14.
At the 2014 Asian Games, Khoi swam in the individual backstroke and medley events. He qualified in the preliminaries of the 400m medley, completing this events in seventh position and broke his national record with a time of 4:24.54.
In other news, Nguyen Dang Khoa of HCM City set a new record in the boys' U16's 800m freestyle with a time of 8:49.28.
After four days of competition, 14 national records were broken. In the team rankings, HCM City took the lead with 18 golds, 16 silvers and 15 bronzes. Long An came in second with 11 golds, 16 silvers and six bronze medals. Quang Binh returned to their third place with nine gold medals, five silvers and two bronzes.
