HCM CITY (VNS) — Tran Duy Khoi of HCM City won the gold medal and broke his own national record in the men's 200m backstroke at the National Youth Swimming Championships, which started in HCM City yesterday.
Khoi finished with a time of 2:05.01, beating his old record of 2:05.10 set in the last year's event.
A relay team of HCM City swimmers also broke the national record in the men's team 800m event with a time of 8:02.28.
Nguyen Diep Phuong Tram of HCM City based-National Sports Training Centre won two gold medals in the women's 200m medley and 200m backstroke.
After the opening day, HCM City took the lead with five golds, one silver and five bronzes. Long An came in second with three golds, seven silvers and two bronzes. Quang Binh placed third with three golds and one silver.
The event will run until July 20. — VNS
