KIEN GIANG (VNS)—Kien Giang FC will not compete at the V-League this season as they failed to meet the registration deadline on October 30.
Binh Dinh FC have the same problem with the First Division.
As a result, the V-League 2014 will see 13 participants, while there are eight in the First Division, one less than the previous year.
To play at the V-League a football team must clear all debts with organisers, players and coaches, while proving that they have VND35 billion (US$1.66 million) to cover all expense for the season, A First Divison teamrequires VND20 billion ($948,000).
Kien Giang, after their donator Kienlongbank withdrew, still owed VND7 billion ($332,000) in salary to their players for several months.
