Ha Noi took the lead of medal tally in the first competition day of the National Youth Swimming and Fin-swimming Championships in Da Nang yesterday, securing four golds and two silvers and a new record.

Nguyen Trung Kien, took home the gold medal in the boys' 100m surface race finishing in 36.47sec, beating his old record of 36.61sec from last year's swim meet.

HCM City trailed behind with two gold and three silver medals, while Military Sports Centre 5 followed closely with two golds, two silvers and four bronzes.

The fin-swimming event drew 116 athletes from 17 teams, who competed for 58 medal sets.

The swimming events will start from Sunday. The championships will close next Thursday.-VNS
