Kim continues to dominate tour

HA NOI (VNS)— South Korean cyclists successfully maintained their lead positions to win titles in the fifth stage of the International Women's Cycling Tournament yesterday.

Kim Youri has ensured the green jersey for herself with 60 points as there is only one stage left. She left runner-up teammate Namkung Soyoung far behind with 47 points.

Kim also kept the yellow jersey after five stages with a time of 10hr 1.29min, although she was not in the top three yesterday.

The fifth stage saw Cao Thi Thuy Trang from Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment finish first with a time of 2:56.01 on a distance of 110km from Tra Vinh City to Can Tho City.

Korean Kim Sola came second, followed by Nguyen Thi Thi of Vinh Binh Rice-An Giang.

The stage win pushed Trang to second place overall with 12sec more than Kim Youri. And Kim Sola was third, on 10:01.43.

The Korean squad still led the team ranking timing 30:05.49. Japan and Binh Duong were second and third.

The final stage kicks off today from Can Tho to Long Xuyen City over 61km.

A prize of VND200 million (US$9,500) will be awarded to title holders. The overall winner will pocket VND25 million. — VNS
