HA NOI (VNS) — The traditional martial arts and boxing tournament for outstanding national fighters, Let's Viet Championship, ended in Binh Dinh Province's Quy Nhon Stadium yesterday.
Improving his performance, Pham Ba Loi of Dak Lak beat Nguyen Phu Quy of An Giang 4-1 to win the title in the men's 51kg category.
In another match, Asian gold medallist Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung from An Giang defeated Huynh Mai Ngan Thuy of HCM City 5-0 in the women's 51kg event.
Pham Tien Hai of HCM City successfully defended his title in the men's 57kg event by beating Doan Van Tuong of the Military team. In the men's 60kg category, Tuong's teammate Nguyen Ho Tan Phat beat Vo Xuan Thanh of Nghe An 5-0, while Ho Tan Dat of the hosts Binh Dinh beat Nguyen Duy Lap of Binh Phuoc 5-0 to triumph in the men's 64kg event.
On Saturday, Dang Tran Anh Tuan of Binh Dinh, Nguyen Van Tung of Binh Phuoc, Nguyen Van Duc of Nghe An and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai of An Giang won the titles in the men's 48kg, 54kg, 68kg and women's 54kg categories respectively.
The winner in each category received a cash prize of VND25 million (US$1,200) and will be selected to compete at international tournaments. — VNS
