HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam's top chess player Le Quang Liem dropped one place to 53rd in the latest world men's rankings, the International Chess Federation announced.
However, world blitz champion Liem retained his Elo rating of 2693.
With this Elo rating, the HCM City-born Grand Master (GM) is ranked 12th in the Asian region.
Liem, a two-time Aeroflot Open champion, won three consecutive championship titles in March in the Zone 3.3 qualifying round of the 2015 World Chess Championships, the 2015 HDBank International Open Chess Tournament in HCM City, and the President's Cup in the United States.
Liem's teammate, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son also fell one spot to 82nd, with an Elo rating of 2662.
In the women's side, GM Pham Le Thao Nguyen ranked 140th with an Elo rating of 2332, while Hoang Thi Bao Tram was placed 205th with an Elo rating of 2283. — VNS
