Viet Nam's top chess player Le Quang Liem lost to Daniel Alsina Leal from Spain on Monday in the seventh round of the Aeroflot Open in Russia.

Leal played an offensive game and won in 69 moves.

The Vietnamese player will next meet Lu Shanglei of China. Liem has already lost the title he has held for the past two years. With just two matches left, Liem stands in 67th out of 86 participants with 2.5 points. Mateusz Bartel from Poland is in the lead with 5.5 points. — VNS
