HA NOI (VNS) — Defending champion Lienvietpost Bank defeated Kazakhstan's Astana 3-1 in a Group B match at the 2015 VTV-Binh Dien International Women's Volleyball Championship in Quang Tri Province yesterday.

With three wins from three matches, the Bank topped Group B and entered the semi-final round.

With superior physical strength, Astana continued to score points. But at the end of the first set, they lost to the Bank 24-26.

In the second set, the visitors won 25-22 to level the score at 1-1.

However, the Bank dominated the third and fourth sets to beat Astana 25-19 and 25-18 respectively.

In a Group A match, VTV-Binh Dien Long An beat Malaysia 3-1 (26-24, 25-12, 26-28, 25-16) to take the lead in the group. They too entered the semi-finals.

Today, Vietinbank will meet Astana, Tien Nong Thanh Hoa will play Japan's Tenri University, and North Korea's 4.25 club will face Malaysia.

Four local and nine foreign clubs are competing in two groups in the US$43,000 tournament that will end on Sunday. — VNS
