HCM CITY (VNS)— Life and love are the subjects of a new exhibition of acrylic art at the Tu Do Gallery in HCM City.
The event, titled Vo De (Untitled), includes 21 acrylic paintings on canvas by Tran The Vinh, one of the city's younger talents.
Vinh's works feature his passion about the natural world and people. They are memorable for his fantastical images and vivid colours like purplish red.
Vinh, 26, says his art is complex. "I love painting when I am in a soaring state of mind because I can imagine my own world," the graduate of Hue Fine Arts University said.
Three of the highlights in the exhibit are Untitled XIII, Untitled XII and Untitled VI.
While Untitled XIII expresses the artist's joyfulness, Untitled XII depicts his dreams and Untitled VI is about sadness.
Vinh called his exhibit Untitled because he wanted "to play with memory".
"Vinh is a self-taught artist who tries his best to create something new in art.
He is the youngest artist that we have been working with since our gallery opened," veteran artist Tran Thi Thu Ha, owner of Tu Do Gallery, said.
The exhibit can be seen at Tu Do Gallery, 53 Ho Tung Mau Street, District 1.
It is open every day from 9am to 5pm, and runs through September 20. Paintings range from US$800-1,500. — VNS
