HA NOI (VNS)– Overseas Vietnamese gymnast Truong Mai Nhat Linh, a member of the national gymnastics team, will be the sole Vietnamese representative at the 32nd World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Ukraine from August 28 to September 1.
Linh, whose parents live and work in Ukraine, will have the chance to hone her skills at the five-day event which attracts leading athletes from around the world.
About 300 gymnasts representing 59 countries have registered for the event that will take place at Kiev Sports Palace. Viet Nam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia are among the nations taking part.
According to the draw, Linh will be in Group C and play in four disciplines – rope, ball, hoop and clubs.
In preparation for the tourney, she has been training in Russia.
The 17-year-old represented Viet Nam at the 2013 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in May in Minsk, Belarus. She was the only Vietnamese athlete.
Last year, Linh won three silver medals and one gold medal for Viet Nam at a competition in Hungary. – VNS
