Local competitors come out on top at Viet Nam Open


Viet Nam won six gold medals, four silvers and two bronzes to claim first place at the 20th international Viet Nam Open 2013, which ended yesterday in HCM City.
HCM CITY (VNS)—Viet Nam won six gold medals, four silvers and two bronzes to claim first place at the 20th international Viet Nam Open 2013, which ended yesterday in HCM City.

Malaysia came second in the track and field competition with with five gold medals, four silvers and seven bronzes, while the Philippines collected three gold medals, five silvers and five bronzes to take the third place.

In the provincial category, Khanh Hoa finished first with five gold medals and three silvers. The Military team came second with four gold medals, two silvers and three bronzes and Ha Noi finished third with four gold medals and one silver.

Pham Tien Sang, Nguyen Dang Thanh Thuy, Do Thi Thao and Nguyen Thi Thuy dominated proceedings to cement their status as key athletes for Viet Nam in upcoming competitions.

The annual two-day event attracted athletes from seven countries.-VNS
