All of Viet Nam's players were beaten in straight sets and eliminated from the first round in the third men's Futures event held in HCM City.

Nguyen Hoang Thien lost in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) to Jeevan Nedunchezshiyan of India in the first-round match yesterday at Phu Tho Tennis Club.

On Monday, Ly Hoang Nam was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by Dane Propoggia of Australia in the first round while Vietnamese player Le Quoc Khanh also suffered a straight-set defeat by Junn Mitsuhashi of Japan.

It was not any brighter in the men's doubles event when all Vietnamese duos failed to advance beyond the first round.

The country has hosted the men's Futures tourneys more frequently in recent years, but this year saw one of the worst performances by local players.-VNS
