HA NOI (VNS)—Ly Hoang Nam won a trophy at the Chang-LTAT-ITF Juniors Group 2 in Thailand yesterday.
His rival Boris Pokotilov, world junior No 103 and seeded1, retired from a shoulder injury, leaving the top podium for the No 2 seed, who won the first set 7-6 (3).
It is the first time Nam, world junior No 142, has won a ITF Group 2 tournament, earning him 100 points and moving him closer to the world junior top 100.
Nam's next destination is South Korea where he will play at the Lee Duk Hee Cup Chuncheon International Junior Tennis Championships from October 29-November 3. — VNS
