Dang Le Ngoc Mai of the Ministry of Public Security defeated strong rivals to bring home a gold medal in the women's sports pistol event at the ongoing National Shooting Cup at the Ha Noi-based National Sports Training Centre on Saturday.

The silver medal went to Pham Thi Ha of Hai Duong.

In the men's air rifle, young ace Phan Quang Vinh of HCM City beat Hanoian Duong Anh Quan to take gold.

Last year, Ha Noi team triumphed with 19 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze medals. The Military finished second while Hai Duong rounded up the top three. — VNS
