Badminton world No 13 Nguyen Tien Minh breezed into the semi-finals of the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open after a 21-17, 21-17 win over Hong Kong's Wing Ki Wong yesterday.

Minh, who is seeded two, needed just 38 minutes to beat his sixth seeded rival to set up a showdown against Malaysia's Wei Feng Chong.

Wei trounced his fellow countryman Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif 21-14, 21-18, yesterday.

The Chinese Taipei Open will wrap-up tomorrow, when the winners of the US$200,000 prize fund will be decided.-VNS
