Man C captain visits Viet Nam


Vincent Kompany, defender and captain of Manchester City, the 2012 Premier League Champions, arrived in HCM City yesterday on a three-day trip to Viet Nam at the invitation of Eximbank.

HCM CITY — Vincent Kompany, defender and captain of Manchester City, the 2012 Premier League Champions, arrived in HCM City yesterday on a three-day trip to Viet Nam at the invitation of Eximbank.

The Belgian said he was surprised by an airport reception by fans, describing it as incredible and emotional.

"Some people would ask me why I came to Viet Nam. My reply after the reception is: Why not?," the 26-year-old said.

He said that he was impressed that the passion Vietnamese have for football.

Today, Kompany will visit SOS school in Go Vap District where he will instruct children.

In the afternoon, he will meet fans at the Youth Culture House. — VNS
