Marksmen take aim at Champs


Marksmen from the military continued to deliver the goods on the second day of the ongoing 49th National Marksmen Championships as they added two golds and three silvers to their tally yesterday in Ha Noi.

HA NOI (VNS)— Marksmen from the military continued to deliver the goods on the second day of the ongoing 49th National Marksmen Championships as they added two golds and three silvers to their tally yesterday in Ha Noi.

The military team claimed a one-two finish in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event, with Ha Minh Thanh clinching gold after firing eight shots to gain 21 points.

Thanh's teammate Dau Van Dong took silver with 20 and Bui Quang Nam of Ha Noi bagged bronze with 17.

The military team yet again proved their superiority with another gold medal in the women's 10m running target event by Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, who achieved a total of 372 points after four shots.

National record holder Dang Hong Ha of Ha Noi came second with 370 and Nguyen Thi Le Quyen from Hai Phong was third with 369.

In the team categpry, three marksmen from Ha Noi achieved a total of 1,066 points, three points more than the military team, who had to settle for silver.

Nguyen Thanh Nam won another silver medal for the military team as he scored 684 points to finish second in the men's 10m air rifle event.

The gold medal was won by Nguyen Van Quan of Hai Duong with 687.1 points and the bronze medal went to Bui Anh Tung of Vinh Phuc with 683.1 points. — VNS
