HCM CITY (VNS) — Vietnamese-Swiss painter Siu Pham and her husband Jean-Luc Mello are now showing works on canvas and paper in a distinctive exhibition at Tu Do Gallery in HCM City.

The 25 works in acrylic and ink are being displayed at the exhibition Dong Hanh-Ghe Va Gio (Companion-Chairs and Wind).

Some of the lightly coloured paintings feature faces in states of joy and sadness, and others depict chairs that imagine human destiny.

While Siu Pham enjoys painting chairs in vivid colours, her husband uses more sombre colours like brown and black to portray human faces.

A graduate of the Gia Dinh Fine Arts College (now the HCM City Fine Arts University), Siu Pham, also known as Nguyen Thi Nhung, has exhibited in Geneva, Bern, Paris, Washington DC and HCM City.

She was also involved in theatre and film between 1997 and 2008. She works with her husband, Jean-Luc Mello, to produce several films featuring Viet Nam and its people.

"My works convey my soul, imagination, and life memories," said Siu Pham, who lives with her husband in Hoi An in Quang Nam Province.

The exhibition runs until April 29 at 53 Ho Tung Mau Street, District 1. — VNS
