The Vietnamese men's chess team beat Turkey 3-1 in the eighth round of the ongoing World Chess Olympiad in Turkey on Thursday.

With this win, the team advanced 11 places to 23rd position. In the next round, they will meet No 11 England with Grandmaster Michael Adams being the strongest opponent.

Meanwhile, the women's team lost to the Indian team, dropping from 7th place to 16th. They will next compete against Germany.-VNS
