HA NOI (VNS) — Mezzo-alto singer Minh Thu will have her first live concert Khoi Nguyen (The Origin) in Ha Noi, marking her comeback to singing after a failed marriage forced her to take more than a year off.

"For me, khoi nguyen is the moment when I am fully energetic and able to devote all my best. Khoi nguyen also symbolises pureness and integrity, which are the root of beauty. That's why I named the live show Khoi Nguyen. I want to present myself as who I am – the one who can set aside all the troubles to shine on stage," the 37-year-old singer explained about the name of her show.

Thu has been dubbed "Lover of Pho Duc Phuong" because she performs the songs of composer Phuong very well. She, of course, will croon his tunes during her up-coming show.

The repertoire will include songs from her debut album Minh Thu Hat Pho Duc Phuong (Pho Duc Phuong Songs through Minh Thu's Vocal), which was released in January.

In addition, the songstress will perform the songs about autumn composed by Do Bao and Vo Thien Thanh. Love ballads and other songs of the pre-war music genre will also be among her repertoire.

Singers Trong Tan and Khanh Linh will be guests to perform at the Khoi Nguyen concert.

While Tan will duet with Thu to perform the song Tinh Nghe Sy (The Artist's Love) by Doan Chuan Tu Linh, Linh will share the stage with Thu to present Det Tam Gai (Weaving the Hemp Cloth).

"Despite the fact that Weaving the Hemp Cloth was performed successfully by diva Tran Thu Ha, I believe our duet will surprise the audience with a combination between an alto and a soprano," said Thu, who recently won the Golden Medal at the Festival of National Professional Performances.

The singer started pursuing a singing career in 1999 and has won several prizes at national and regional singing contests. She then quit the stage to run her own business and got married. However, after a breakup with her ex-husband and becoming a single mom, in 2013, Thu decided to come back to her singing career, which she calls her "destiny".

In January, Thu marked her comeback by launching her debut album Minh Thu Hat Pho Duc Phuong (Pho Duc Phuong Songs through Minh Thu's Vocal). The album has been greeted by audiences, especially middle-aged people, who have enough life experience to "absorb" the meaning of the songs' lyrics.

Unlike other previous versions that were first sung successfully by famous singers through Thu's vocals, all those songs have been "renewed" as they were orchestrated in New Age, rock, and dance styles.

Alongside songs such as Tren Dinh Phu Van (On the Phu Van Summit), Bai Ca Than Chim Lac (Song of the Mythic Bird), Dong Song Ky Uc (The Memory River), Ben Dong Song Cai (By the Cai River), Thu also sings Khong The va Co The (Can't and Can) — a famous song performed earlier by diva Thanh Lam.
