HCM CITY — The world-famous boy band Michael Learns to Rock will perform at the Sky Connection music festival in HCM City later this month.
The three-member band from Denmark will present their new extended play With Love, released in May to close their 25th anniversary celebration.
It features two brand new songs Dream Girl and Crushing Blue, and two singles I’ll Wait for You and We Share the Night.
Favourite hits like Sleeping Child, 25 Minutes, That’s Why and Take Me to Your Heart will also be played at the festival.
Formed in 1988, Michael Learns to Rock was very popular in the mid-90s. The pop and soft rock band has released eight studio albums and sold over 11 million records. They performed in Viet Nam in 2007 and 2015.
The festival will also highlight South Korean girl group Wonder Girls, who dazzled Vietnamese fans with their singing and dance performances at the M Live Mo.A 2012 concert in HCM City which was held four years ago.
The four-member group will play three songs Why So Lonely, To the Beautiful You and Sweet & Easy from their fourth album Why So Lonely, released in July featuring reggae-pop dance music.
Wonder Girls debuted in 2007 and are known for music with retro dance-pop elements from 60s, 70s and 80s. They quickly became famous in Asia with the singles Nobody and So Hot.
In 2009, the band began entering the US market. Three years later, they launched the Wonder Girls World Tour, a 20-show tour in the US and Canada where they performed English and Korean versions of their hits, and covers of popular English-language songs.
Vietnamese pop stars like Thu Minh and Son Tung M-TP will be featured at the Sky Connection festival.
The event will take place on December 21 at the 7th Military Region Stadium in Tan Binh District.
