HCM CITY (VNS) — Viet Nam's top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh was knocked out of the OUE Singapore Open yesterday.
The No 7 seed lost to Srikanth Kidambi of India 18-21, 21-15, 21-8 in the second round of the men's singles, in a match that lasted nearly an hour.
Minh also needed one hour to beat Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the first round.
In the women's event, Vu Thi Trang lost to No 4 seed Yeon Ju-bae of South Korea 21-8, 21-18.
In other news, Viet Nam lost Denmark 2-3 in the playoffs in Group Z of the JATI BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships in Malaysia yesterday. — VNS
