Minh drops to 29th in world rankings


Viet Nam's top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has dropped seven places to 29th in the world men's singles rankings, the Badminton World Federation announced yesterday.

HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam's top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has dropped seven places to 29th in the world men's singles rankings, the Badminton World Federation announced yesterday.

The world's top three ranks are held by Chen Long of China, Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark and Lin Dan of China.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles, Minh's girlfriend Vu Thi Trang dropped six spots to 55th. At the recent Ciputra Ha Noi Yonex Sunrise, Trang, seeded No 3, lost to a Thai rival in the second round.

The top three ranks among women are held by Li Xuerui of China, Saina Nehwal of India and China's Wang Shixian.

Viet Nam's Le Thu Huyen slipped 35 spots to 243rd and Pham Cao Cuong jumped 11 spots to 312th in the world rankings. — VNS
